From 2002 at Manila, Philippines
The non profit association I cammini aperti Onlus - Trieste and the Humanistic Movement since 2002 are developing a human solidarity campaign in the Philippines, at Manila. The human solidarity campaigns do not belong to the assisting scheme, even though they deal with items which are tipically treated by assistenting/religious/humanitarist organisations, trhough ideals as reciprocity and solidarity they aim to create a process that, once started, could survive and develope on his own.
The choises of most of the governments are generating a situation where a large segment of the population is impoverished and violently excluded from any of the rights stated in the Declaration Chart of Human Rights, such as health, education, home and food. The true help, the true solidarity is letting folks find their strengh, organise and start development projects, which are real useful for them and not to the interest of big international capitals.
Reciprocity and selfmanagement: solidarity is not enough. There are many humanitary associations that help human groups which are in trouble. Their action surely has to be appreciated, but has a big limit: it is based on a paternalistic attitude carrying together the humanitarism. It is a behavior that keeps passive those who are helped, such a way that they will not do anything to change their situation and will keep waiting that someone else will solve their problems.
There is not future with such a way of coping with problems, that will not be solved. With the human solidarity campaigns, we sustain, instead, the principle of the reciprocity in the action: who receives, to own time he gives to others. To act with reciprocity involves the organization of the social base in which the people are inserted in a global project and they are hocked to give to others what they receive. In this way the action is multiplied in exponential way and never has end.
At Manila, from 2002, a not-violence campaign is going on. That foresees seminars and meetings in the high schools and in the colleges, in the districts and in the places of employment on the themes of the not-violence, the mental-lucidity, the new spirituality and the healing of suffering. The campaign is involving approximately 500 people. Besides, projects are being started for the constitution of Centers Integral Humanists and campaigns about health support in the districts more poor.
One of the targets is the improvement of the International Humanist Youth Clubs (www.ihyconline.org) and the improvement of the local Comunity for the human development.

Punta de Vacas, Argentina:
Journey
Towards Reconciliation by K. E. Lagdameo.
In May 2007, I and three Filipinos traveled
halfway across the globe to a little known province of Mendoza,
Argentina. Together with around ten thousand people from different
parts of the world, we made a pilgrimage to Punta de Vacas, a rocky
outpost near the foot of Mount Aconcagua, the tallest mountain in
the West, where the three mountain chains of the Andes converge.
Here, you will find a newly-built Park, on the spot where Silo,
writer- thinker and founder of a current of thought and action known
as
New
Humanism , gave his first talk 39 years ago entitled
The
Healing of Suffering .
